Colin Chase provided Multimedia Marketing services to a number of American Manufacturers from spring 2003 through spring 2008. As a member of the Development Team, Colin was both the Project Manager and the Computer Programmer for the Interactive CD-ROMs. These CD-ROMs were created using Macromedia Director and the Lingo programming language, and would tie together various printed materials, charts & graphs, video segments, & 3D animation to educate the Customer as well as sell them.
At this time, video and animation required long “download times” if hosted online, which is why CD-ROMs and USB-Drives were much better (and more impressive) delivery systems. These Marketing Assets were often designed so that the CD would be held within a DVD Case, allowing for inserts to be included (i.e., additional info and/or a discount). So, the manufacturers would distribute the CD-ROMs to interested parties via USPS or as hand-outs at Trade Shows and during Sales Calls.
In this role, Colin was responsible for assisting the client in determining exactly what they wanted, as it was a very open-ended process. “What would work best to achieve the goal of ‘selling’ the client’s customers, and to be within the budgetary constraints of the client?”
This required a lot of communication with Colin, as he would draw-out of the client what their “dream” marketing asset would be. Then, Colin would direct the Development Team to craft the Marketing Project precisely as desired (and quoted) and within the agreed-upon time frame.
Several of these Interactive Multimedia Marketing Projects went on to win Marketing & Creative Industry Awards. Colin and his Team of Developers were awarded a Silver Telly Award and a Bronze Davey Award, plus they won 3rd place in the Impressario Programming Contest. Colin and his Team of Developers were on a major growth trajectory, but then the Great Recession of 2008 struck and unfortunately, Marketing is always the first thing to GO during a slowdown. (Though, the logic behind this decision is reactionary and not logical.)
Colin created many of the concepts utilized for the Marketing Projects, acting as the Account Manager and Multimedia Programmer for these projects. Colin and the Development Team also worked on other projects involving: Website Design, Graphic Design, Video and Animation Production, and Custom Computer Programming (MS Access and VBA projects, as well as Online Applications using ASP and PHP).
